Every word climbs through levels of increasing difficulty: 12 levels for a normal word, 25 for a word with a character such as a kanji, and a short track for flip cards. Early levels use multiple-choice cards, first recognising the foreign word, then choosing the native word in reverse. Mid levels add puzzles such as typing a missing letter, finding two swapped letters and sorting scrambled letters. Higher levels ask you to type half of the word and finally the whole word from memory. A correct answer moves a word up one level, a mistake moves it back a few levels, so harder words simply get more practice until they stick.

No payment details are needed for the free tier. Once registered your words are securely stored and accessible from any device at any time. How do I add a new word?

Yes. vocafox combines level-based progression with spaced repetition. While a word climbs its levels, correct answers move it up and mistakes push it back. Once it reaches its highest level, it enters a spaced repetition cycle and comes back after growing breaks: 6 hours, 12 hours, then 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and finally 64 days. A mistake resets the cycle. This two-phase approach means every word is actively drilled until you know it, then reviewed just often enough that you do not forget it.

When you get a word wrong, it drops back by one or more levels depending on how far along it was. The word will reappear in your session sooner so you get another chance to practise it. Yes. Open a word and go to its stats tab to set its level to any value, including back to 0, or to change its place in the spaced repetition schedule.
